CRIME FIGURES PLUMMET ON KINGSMERE OVER Last 2 YEARS

We have been informed by Chief Inspector Coates that the calls by the police to our estate over the last four years are as follows:

2005 = 183

2006 = 128

2007  =   42

2008  =   42

There is no doubt that the KCA is keeping up the work started by the L.A.T in 2006 and working to benefit us all

NEWS 22nd Oct 2008 District Commander Coates update

I have attended a large number of events in the town during the last month. The local hero awards presented by Sovereign radio acknowledged the great work in Kingsmere being done by Kate Daly and others. I was privileged to see Kate receive her much deserved award. I have given a number of talks at other such organisations and had a wonderful lunch with some of the retired members of the community at Langney. I always ask at these meetings what the perception of crime is within the town. I have had some disturbing feedback in that the fear of crime is actually far greater than the crime which is occurring. I asked one group how many burglaries happen in Eastbourne in a two week period. The response from one man was 150. Another said 80. This is far in excess of reality. In the last few months we have averaged 2-3 per week. The fear of crime is something I and my partners need to address and to link in with the media.
