On the 7th July 09 we were privileged to welcome Everton Bryan, Group Director of Places for People & Aniekan Umoren, Managing Director of PFP for a visit to Kingsmere. They had heard about the good work of the KCA, the partnership and its impact on Kingsmere and wanted to come and see the area for themselves. Everton and Aniekan were keen to know how the partnership and the KCA works together to benefit the community and how we achieved the 66% reduction in crime over just two years, turning a once poorly used community building into the centre of the community. Both Everton & Aniekan wanted to see for themselves first hand our great success and hear how we did it. We hope that they are able to take away and use some of our ideas on other PFP developments for the future. We would like to say a big thank you to both for showing an interest in the KCA and the partnership, we are very proud of our success and were very pleased you took the time to meet us, thank you. |

Emails:
Dear All,
I really enjoyed meeting you all yesterday. The work you have done in your community is an inspiration to us all. I will work with David Hooper and Mark Viggars to see how we can replicate some of your achievements in other parts of our business. Let's keep in touch, if there is anything I can do to help, let me know and I look forward to seeing you on my next visit.
Kind regards
Everton Bryan

Partnership is a force for good
Published Date: 01 April 2009
I am writing to you on behalf
of the Kingsmere Partnership, in response to the
article headlined "Loans muddle is leading to
division on estate (March 18)".
I have no issue with your
factual coverage of the loans issues, and it is
unfortunate that we are not able, at the present
time, to find a way to offer our personal loans
product to the residents of other landlords on
Kingsmere.
However, I think it is an indication of the maturity and drive of the partnership that we are prepared to challenge ourselves to find ways to overcome difficult problems we are aware are affecting the community, and that do not have obvious and easily delivered solutions. We continue to monitor other potential sources of capital that would enable us to broaden the benefit of this product, as you correctly report we have succeeded in doing in other parts of the country where capital funding sources could be accessed. The reference to the 'piecemeal nature of the estate', however, warrants a robust response, as this runs to the heart of the partnership's mission. You are aware that, within the differing policies and tenancy agreements of the three landlords, we have worked creatively and flexibly to deliver a common service offer on anti-social behaviour and nuisance, abandoned vehicles and cleaning and grounds maintenance to all residents. We have also produced and distributed a common guide to all the services delivered on the estate to all residents, introduced a system of joint estate inspections, involving all landlords and residents, to ensure all issues are identified and dealt with regardless of the landlord responsible. We have worked together as a partnership to provide co-ordinated investment that has improved the community centre facilities and supported the wide range of community activities now available to residents. In addition we have supported the Kingsmere Community Association to offer a series of monthly coffee morning/surgeries. This provides all residents with the opportunity to raise concerns with all the landlords, local councillors, the police community support officer, children's services team and indeed CAB, to provide access to advice on financial issues and concerns. The work of the partnership is about positive impact on the lives of all residents on Kingsmere. Since we began our work in January 2007, reported crime has dropped by 66 per cent, sustained over the two years to date, and residents' perceptions of their neighbourhood and community have improved significantly. Inspired by this success, we will continue to listen to the messages from the community we serve, and challenge ourselves to find common ways to meet all residents' concerns and priorities through creative joint solutions wherever we are able.
