We had great success and the promised bad weather did not deliver, most other events were called off, but our gamble to go ahead was right on the button. The rain stopped just after 11am and we had no more showers until just after 5pm, someone up there was smiling on us! We had a tremendous turnout out of helpers, entertainers & key figures from Eastbourne council and housing. Our procession kicked off with the Pentacle Drummers and Mr. Stephen Lloyd Parliamentary Spokesperson for Lib-Dem, Mr. Nigel Waterson, MP Con and Dept-Mayor of Eastbourne Harun Miah plus KCA members & residents. Meanwhile Sovereign radio were interviewing live on the radio at the hall. Outside of the hall we had a traditional mini funfair with stalls and rides plus a bouncy slide and boxing ring. Thanks to Nutter and Son for the funfair and Bounce About for the slide and boxing ring. Inside the hall we had numerous stalls including Play your cards right, hoopla, raffle, name the dog and teddy plus more. Thanks to Cllr Salsbury for manning the tombola, which made the most money on the day! Thanks to Susan of the National Osteoporosis Society for attending and special thanks to Aimee and Amber Barlow for manning Pick a Lolly and Guess the sweets. The expected bad weather led us to cancel the outside BBQ but the kitchen provided hotdogs and other snacks for everyone, we can still smell the onions! The Sea Gypsies performed in the hall and the Pentacle Drummers performed outside, both to rapturous applause, thank you all.
Many thanks to all who attended, helped and supported the day.
A very special thank you to the South Coast Community Investment Fund for their grant which made the whole day possible.
